walk cycles

There are a lot difference when come to animation in 2D and 3D but the animation principles are still the same. When you understand the basic movement, it's easier to apply them in 3D models.

3D animation I

So this is what I really enjoy doing. Animating. This was done in 3Ds Max 2009. After 20+ times of testing, here's the final version of pushing object uphill. It should demonstrate weight and a more complicated version of walk cycle. Enjoy and thanks for viewing.

aircraft 101

This is my frist finished/textured aircraft model. The reason I chose this particular model from Battlestar Galactica is because it has a simple shaple overall and it is possible to finish within 3-4 weeks deadline. There are still things to be imporved but here's a turnaround of the actual model.

Finally 3D part I

It was very excited to model my own living room after so many years. I wana thank Mr. Allan Martin for helping me out on this project. I also learn NURBS modeling from him. This is all done in Autodesk Maya 8.0.

Finally 3D

First but not at last, some 3D props and environments shots. These were made fairly recent and do not have texture yet. I will finish those when I find time aside from current project I'm working with. Thanks for the visit!

by the lake

Today I took out some old digital paintings and fix them in photoshop. It's amazing what a simple brush can do.
I use warmer color to give this piece a cozy feeling. You know, it should be very relaxing by the lake. I added in the big ass tower and a chinese temple in the background to create foreground, mid, and background. I'm happy with the way it turned out except some trees in the far right corner.

Colors

Today I start to feel that my page need more color...so I decided to put up some digital paintings to brighten it up.
These paintings were done by Wacom Graphire back in '06...some of them were based on friend's photo and some of them just a quick paint for fun. I hope you have as much fun as I painted them. Thanks!

random sketches

You'll never know when is the best sketch going to happen. You just sketch and sketch, hope the good ones will come along; OR, you could have fun while sketching. Relax, be yourself, let the pen catch the flow while it meandering in the world of the lines.

This page was done back in the days I was tutoring elementary school kids. This was a case of one-on-one tutoring in a house. I had few minutes to sketch while the kid was doing his hw. Those stuff on the counter downstairs was done after dinner.

Remember, sketching should be very FUN. It's free and full of life. Do NOT worry a thing about making mistakes; mistakes will make our work better and stronger. Just like what they say in the Disney animated feature "The Robinsons": You learn from failure, success, ah, not so much.

Teach me please

So we all had this kind of experience when teachers don't teach. It's not a pleasant feeling, isn't it? I guess it depends on different individuals, too...some students like it when teachers don't teach and vice versa. well this was inspired by certain instructor and here it is. I was gona paint this but I never get the chance to. So here it is...

hand sketches

Hand has always been one of my favorite anatomical part to draw since I was little. I don't know why but I found it quite fascinating in the perspective of the hands. It may sound silly but I have a "book of hands" of my own (NOT Bridgman's the book of a hundred hands).

Here I posted some rough sketches and some more polished render by ball-point pen.

So the story begins..

So finally I created a blogspot. This is the first blog I've had since 2002...I had to admit I'm kinda excited. Here I posted some anatomy sketches from 2005 I did in the exhibition in California Science Center called Body World 2. I will update more when I finish scanning (sounds like a huge task to do but i'm gona do it)

Thanks for the visit and enjoy!
